The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon shows classical mountain Cabernet aromas of black currant, cherry and plum, accented by violets, bay leaf and olive. The wine is powerful and round on the entry and broad across the mid-palate. Spicy aromas of allspice and cedar compliment the structural frame and bright core of fruit. The harmony and balance linger on the palate and carry though the finish. The youthful tannins will benefit from decanting upon release and the wine will age well for over ten years.

The 2014 vintage was a great year at Spring Mountain Vineyard. Continued drought conditions accelerated the phenological stages in the vineyard, which led to an earlier than normal harvest, but the warm conditions allowed for excellent ripening. The 2013/2014 winter was one of the driest on record, however, scattered rainstorms early in the growing season provided the vines some much needed water as the early bud break was starting. Favorable weather during set allowed the vines to produce a healthy, balanced quantity of clusters with small and concentrated berries. The harvest for the Bordeaux varieties began on September 12th and continued through October 14th. The resulting wines show wonderful concentration and depth of flavor, framed by a dense and fine tannin structure.
