This is a big, concentrated mountain Cabernet that purely reflects a beautiful vintage. The wine is laced with chocolate, caramel and savory spices. Dark fruit flavors of blackberry, black currant and cassis dominate the aromas with a hint of minerality that adds intrigue. On the palate, its full-bodied entry delivers loads of chewy tannins and a re-statement of the black fruit, chocolate, licorice and nuance of stony minerals. Excellent weight on the mid-palate leads to an elegant and persistent finish.

The 2007 vintage began with a warm winter and dry spring that gave us only 50% of our normal rainfall. Budbreak occurred in early to mid-March, more than a month earlier than 2006. Bloom took place in mid-April. Summer temperatures were moderate with no heat spikes until mid-August. The 2007 vintage marked the first year of a several-year drought in Napa Valley. The positive result of less rainfall is the concentration of aromas and flavors in wines from this acclaimed vintage.
