Dark ruby color, joined by dark plum and blackberry aromas with touches of mint and anise. Concentrated, forward, rich, ripe, dark plum and cassis flavors on the palate with a great texture and medium tannins. This wine is showing particularly well now. A true gem.

Winemaker’s Comments

Shows good color of deep garnet. Herbal, mint aromatics accent classic cassis and black currant aromas. A rich earthy note is enhanced by a warm bouquet of leather and cigar box. Opens with a bright attack, accenting the black currant fruit with a hint of licorice. Medium-bodied with good structure, the wine is more elegant than plush, a definite Bordeaux styling that favors grace over weight. The finish elongates with notes of coffee and dry cocoa. The wine will benefit from an hour in the decanter before serving.

Vineyard: Chevalier 65%, Miravalle 35%

Additional Notes

Extreme weather patterns punctuated the growing season. Veraison was blessed by moderately warm days and cool evenings, which provided extended hang time. The wines have great structure and surprising depth.
