2019 Sauvignon Blanc

The 2019 Sauvignon Blanc shows great restraint upon first pour. As the wine opens, aromas of lime zest and floral citrus evolve into wet stone and crushed shell. On the palate, notes of guava, waxed lemon, and tangerine balance the vibrant acidity. Sur lie aging in neutral oak and a small percentage of new French oak created a beautifully textured wine. A lingering minerality finishes out this complex wine.

Additional Notes

Following in the footsteps of the stellar 2018 vintage, the 2019 growing season provided us with yet another opportunity to create great wines. The year began with above-average rainfall in January, February, and March, filling aquifers and reservoirs and increasing soil moisture for the growing season ahead. This cooler start to the year resulted in a slightly delayed bud break relative to previous years, however, the ideal growing season continued into the summer months as moderate heat persisted without many heat spikes. Cool mornings and warm afternoons allowed the fruit to retain acidity while ripening phenolics. This created great structure and texture while young, and should also prove beneficial for aging. The 2019 harvest began with Sauvignon Blanc on September 3rd and finished with our last lot of Cabernet Sauvignon on November 16th.
